G é Eleição Geral: presidente, governador, senador e deputados. L é Eleição Local (municipal): prefeito e vereador. De 1933 a 1990 o TSE não publica cargo municipal, então esses anos são todos G.
The same office appears twice in the year a place voted on a different date from the rest of the country (because of a postponement, for example).

In 1962, Guanabara elected only the VICE GOVERNOR (Eloy Dutra), in a separate election, not the governor, who had been elected in 1960 (Carlos Lacerda, for a term through 1965). At that time the vice governor could be chosen in a vote separate from the governor's, and the TSE records the two as separate elections. It is the only case, in the entire database from 1933 to 1990, of a standalone election for vice governor.
Guanabara existed from 1960 to 1975: it was the former Federal District, which became a state when the capital moved to Brasília. It was merged into the state of Rio de Janeiro in 1975. The unit appears here because this database follows the political and administrative division in force at each election.
