In 1982, 22 states elected a governor, according to data from Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE). PDS elected the most governors (12), followed by PMDB (9) and PDT (1). Adding up the votes of the candidates each party fielded, PMDB had the most votes: 19.1 million votes (44.04% of the votes cast for candidates).

This is not a chamber.
